Department of Psychology

The department of psychology is one of the oldest department of the college. It was established in 2004. The department is affiliated with the department of Psychology, University of Lucknow. Mrs. Archana Shukla is the pioneer faculty of the department of the college. Presently Dr. Archana Shukla is working as H.O.D. of Psychology department, Lucknow University. The department is keen to develop action oriented activities for enhancing the well being of community at large. In 2005 Mrs Nagma Javed take charge of the department till 2013. Since 2013 the department is running under the supervision of Dr. Geetika Mishra and Dr. Shweta Mishra.

Course Offered - There is a 3 year BA regular program of which the first year constitutes courses on Basic Psychological Process, Statistics and Psycho Physics and Practicals. The second year offers courses on Human Development ,and Social Psychology and Practicals. The third year comprises courses on Psychological Assessment, Psychopathology, Personality Psychology and Practicals.

BA (4 years NEP) programme of which the first semester constitutes courses on Basic Psychological Processes, Psychology of Individual Differences. The Second Semester Includes Statistics and Psychophysics and Lab work/ Practical. The third semester offers courses on Developmental Psychology-I and Social Psychology. The fourth Semester Offers Courses on Developmental Psychology II and Lab work/ Practical. The Fifth Semester comprises courses on Psychology of Personality, Psychopathology: Understanding Deviant Behaviour I, Psychological Testing and Assessment or Environmental Psychology: Threats and challenges while sixth semester constitutes courses on Approaches of personality, Lab work/Practical, Assessment of Personality mental ability or environmental Protection. The seventh semester comprises courses on Psychopathology: Understanding Deviant behaviour II, Psychology applied to life I, Research Methods: Case study/ Survey. The elective courses include School Psychology: Basic Concepts And Issues or Health Psychology and School Mental Health or Stress and Health: Psychological Perspective. The last semester is devoted to Major Project.

The department is also running Vocational Programmes on Counselling and Guidance and Communication Skills. Besides, this two co-curricular courses are also running on Holistic Health and Happiness and Self Enhancement skills. 

The department organises so may programmes, workshop on World Mental Health Day, World Suicide Day and Guest Lectures also.
